Meet our Instructors
We have a great team of instructors who are highly experienced in agility. Between them, they and their dogs have competed at the highest level (including at Crufts and European Championships), judge at shows, and assess new instructors. They share a common passion for the sport and love to impart their expertise to help handlers of all levels develop and just have fun.
Amy
Amy has been involved in agility for over 30 years, competing seriously for almost 20. She has worked with many breeds and reached Grade 7 with her rescue Collie, Freya. Amy loves how agility continues to evolve and enjoys designing courses that challenge all levels. Now focused on instructing, she takes greatest pride in helping her students achieve clears, wins, finals, Crufts, and World Championships through positive, supportive, and confidence-building training.
Iain
Iain came into the sport in 1998 when he joined Cranbourne and took up instructing in 2002. He is a recognised instructor by both Agility Club and the Royal Kennel Club and. assesses new instructors looking to become qualified.
Away from Cranbourne, Iain has a hydrotherapy and agility business and is a qualified Championship dog show judge, runs a Good Citizen Dog Scheme for the Royal Kennel Club, and is a Search and Rescue dog handler in Oxfordshire.
Judy
Judy has a talent for encouraging new handlers, with a focus on getting the foundations right from the start, building confidence and understanding for both dog and handler.
Judy creates a fun, supportive learning environment where people are encouraged to ask questions, progress is celebrated, and everyone feels motivated to enjoy their agility journey as they and their dogs develop strong, reliable skills.
Mel
Mel brings 30+ years' experience in the sport. Having joined Cranbourne in 1994, she qualified as an instructor in 1998. She combines technical expertise with effective coaching and focuses on creating a safe and fun time for both dogs and handlers.
Mel helps her husband with their hydrotherapy business, is a championship dog show judge, and an accomplished Search and Rescue handler.
Alan
Alan discovered agility relatively late in life (well, in his 50s!) and has two dogs - Martha, a springer spaniel, and Mabel, a working cocker. He really enjoys working with people who are new to agility to help them develop good foundation skills.
Alan is a former dog handler at the UK border and outside of agility - although there isn't much time as he trains four times a week with his dogs - he loves outdoor life.
